Episcopal Campus Ministry
Episcopal Campus Ministry (ECM) offers grounding and support to students at UNCW and Cape Fear Community College and to others of college age.
ECM is alive and well even though our diocese has cut funding for campus ministers.
Directed by an Advisory Committee of representatives from area congregations, the ministry will continue to offer:
- Sunday evening services and suppers at 6 PM
- Fall retreat
- January pilgrimage to Washington, D.C.
- Programs such as walking the labyrinth, planning joint services with the Roman Catholic campus group, and learning about icons
The Reverend Tim Dols will continue as campus minister, though with reduced hours. St. Paul's Church has stepped up to help fund the fall retreat, and the Advisory Committee has applied for a small grant from St. Philip's, Southport to enable the January trip. Church of the Servant will provide most of the Sunday suppers.
College and graduate students are invited to the 6:00 pm services, dinners, and programs of the Episcopal Campus Ministry, held at Church of the Servant. Contact the Rev. Tim Dols at tdols@juno.com with questions.
A Collect for Young Persons
God our Father, you see your children growing up in an unsteady and confusing world: Show them that your ways give more life than the ways of the world, and that following you is better than chasing after selfish goals. Help them to take failure, not as a measure of their worth, but as a chance for a new start. Give them strength to hold their faith in you, and to keep alive their joy in your creation; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
