College Park Elementary School
Church of the Servant has partnered with our neighbors at College Park Elementary School (CPES) to provide support in many areas. We are committed to improving the lives of students, their families, faculty, and staff.
The 2010-2011 school year was a busy one for Church of the Servant volunteers. Click here for a review of our volunteer efforts at College Park for this year.
Frank Ogden is heading up the CPES Outreach committee. They are asking for volunteers to respond to the school's number one request: adults to spend time in classrooms reading to or being read to by students. All grades K-5 are in need of such adult support. The amount of time you give - and when you give it - is open. We are very flexible! We hope to start the program in October. Think about volunteering to spend time with children in classrooms where we can make an impact and have fun at the same time! If you are interested in volunteering, or in learning more about this program, please e-mail Frank Ogden at milam_ogden@yahoo.com, or call him at 857-753-5942.
On August 20, 2010 we sponsored the 2nd annual staff appreciation luncheon for CPES staff. In addition to the delicious, home-cooked meal and camaraderie, we presented the CPES staff with a large supply of donated uniforms for children whose families cannot afford them. A few photos from last year's luncheon are included below. The remaining photos may be seen here on our Facebook fan page.

At Christmas, local families whose children attend College Park Elementary School receive gifts based on needs expressed by the families. Paper ornaments are placed on our COS Christmas tree loaded with wishes. Parishioners purchase and wrap their selections and bring them back to be blessed during our worship service. Our Christmas Outreach team delivers them. The team also uses donated funds to buy gift certificates for the families.
