Stewardship
Because we have received, we give; because we give, we receive.
To the members and friends of Church of the Servant:
To be a part of Church of the Servant is a privilege and a blessing. We are blessed by:
- Our people. What a privilege it is to be part of a community of seekers, a community
that serves others and one that celebrates their life together in the church.
- Our leadership. We have a rector who inspires us and leads us to serve God ever more
effectively and joyfully, we have a deacon who leads us in caring for our members in need
and we have a vestry that is totally committed to serving the parish.
- Our worship. COS is known for vibrant, creative and fresh liturgies, formal worship in
an informal setting.
- Our music. Our music director and choir enhance our worship experience and engage all
of us, adults, young people and children alike.
- Our Christian education. The programs for our young people focus on their spiritual
growth in creative and dynamic ways; the variety of programs dealt with in our adult program
include Bible study, esthetics and contemporary social and ethical issues, but in all these
our focus is on seeking, studying and growing together.
- Our buildings and grounds. The labyrinth, the beautiful multi-use sanctuary and the
gardens are important to our spiritual experience; our classrooms and playground enhance our
children’s experience of the church.
- Our outreach program. Through COS we are able to serve our community through a large range of programs, and to serve Eastern Carolina through our diocesan participation, and indeed the world through the Episcopal Church USA.
Fulfilling the ministry of COS and continuing to receive these blessings depends on each of us. We all have resources of talent, time, expertise and finances. As we share them, they are magnified so that our ministry is enhanced and all our lives are enriched.
For COS to continue as the blessing it is for us and for our community, we must be accountable to each other. Unless all of us contribute to the work of the whole, the work is diminished and what we can achieve and the blessing we can experience are reduced.
Please take some time to read the Stewardship Meditations written by your fellow members of Church of the Servant and prayerfully consider your pledge.
Our proposed budget for next year requires an increase of 15% in our pledges and giving. Please consider prayerfully what you can do to enrich the life and ministry of this treasure we have. Click here to download a pledge card for 2010.
