Building & Grounds - Here’s What We’re Up To!

Building & Grounds Committee
I’ve been asked recently, “what is the Building and Grounds Committee up to?” I must admit, oftentimes our activities, while important, go unnoticed. For example, when the air handler in the sanctuary failed last summer, a B&G committee member and an HVAC technician were elbow deep in motors, drive belts and braces to make repairs so the congregation was nice and comfortable during Sunday service.
For 2023 the major project the B&G committee has focused on is the repair of rotted exterior trim, fascia, and soffits around the entire church. We retained the help of a contractor we’ve used for several projects here at COS, Rue Crew Construction. (By help I mean Rue Crew will do all the work and we will stand back and supervise. :) The project included repairing and replacing all rotted wood around the church. Then they painted all the trim around the church.
As a side note, the B&G committee also asked Rue Crew Construction to give us an estimate to replace the two benches located near the front entrance of the church. They have been there for a while and had become a tad uncomfortable to sit on. Because we have used Rue Crew for several projects over the last few years, they generously chose to include the replacement of the benches with the trim repair project.
Below you can see the before and after photos of the work being performed. The Building and Grounds Committee is absolutely delighted with the end result. We appreciate the quality service offered by Rue Crew Construction and look forward to working with them on future projects.
