Parish Administrator & Bookkeeper

Part-time | Approximately 35 hours per week

 

Church of the Servant, Episcopal, in Wilmington, NC, seeks a capable, organized, and welcoming 
Parish Administrator & Bookkeeper to support the administrative and financial life of the parish. This position reports directly to the rector and is central to parish operations, serving as the primary administrative and financial support for church staff and leadership.


Primary Responsibilities

· Manage parish office operations and serve as first point of contact for parishioners and visitors

·  Maintain the parish calendar; coordinate parish events and facility use

·  Prepare weekly bulletins, announcements, newsletters, correspondence, and reports

·  Maintain parish records, databases, and files, including the church website

·  Provide support for vestry and committee leaders as needed

·  Process payroll for parish staff and related reporting

·  Handle bookkeeping functions including deposits, expenses, and designated gift tracking

·  Reconcile bank and investment accounts monthly

·  Prepare monthly financial reports and assist with budgeting and year-end processes

·  Work with diocesan offices and external accountant as needed

 

Qualifications

·  Experience in office administration and bookkeeping

·  Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

·  Ability to manage confidential information with discretion

·  Ability to create bulletins for weekly worship

·  Proficiency with church accounting software (e.g. Realm Accounting or similar)

·  Proficiency with Microsoft office products

·  Strong written and interpersonal communication skills

·  Familiarity with Episcopal Church life and structure is a plus

·  Experience in a church or nonprofit setting preferred

 

Compensation

·  $19–$21 per hour (approx. $34,500–$38,000 annually), commensurate with experience

·  Paid holidays (designated) and paid time off

·  Health benefits for employee only in parity with the rector
